A lot of lucky hunters got their bucks
Pat Pfeiffer Correspondent
(Hiles News) - By this time there are a lot of lucky hunters who have gotten their bucks. Congratulations to them, and for the rest of you, hang in there, there are still a few days and some nice bucks left. Good luck!
Note from a Friend
I received a phone call and a note from a nice lady most of you know as a friend and former resident of Hiles. The note read: “ To all of our friends and neighbors of Hiles, Pine Lake and neighboring community, we do want to thank you for welcoming us and letting us join you in whatever gatherings you had. We had no intention of leaving the way we did. But health problems changed our plans. We are grateful to all of you for all your help and well wishes. Joe and I are in an assisted living home and are making the best of it. Our address is: Joe and Marion Moser, Riverway Place, Apt. # 24, West Bend, WI 53095. The telephone number is 262-338-7708.”
Marion told me that all but one of their children live in the West Bend area, so they are well looked after by them, but they do miss their friends and neighbors in Hiles.
Fire Department Christmas Party
The annual Christmas pot luck dinner at the town hall, sponsored by the Hiles Fire Department will be on Saturday, Dec. 6, with happy hour starting at 5 p.m. Please bring a dish to pass and your appetite.
Kids are reminded that there is a poster contest. Make any kind of poster about winter or Christmas, of any size and any materials. Santa will be there to look them over, so don’t forget!
Ladies Who Party
Ladies who belong to the Hiles Hattitude Red Hat group or the Hiles Ladies Pool League are reminded that the combined Christmas Party will be held at Pine Lake Pub on Thursday, Dec. 11. Bring a couple of items for the Forest County Food Pantry, as well as a $10 exchange gift. Dinner at 5 p.m., with drinks and maybe a little pool playing beforehand. If you haven’t done so already, please call Paul or Terri to let them know your choice of prime rib, rib eye steak, chicken or shrimp for dinner as soon as you can.
Meetings
The Hiles Service Club will meet at the museum in the town hall at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5. Hiles Red Hatters meet at Pine Lake Pub on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m.
Calendar and Almanac
This is National Family Week, and National Game & Puzzle Week and also Better Conversation Week.

Nov. 28 — Black Friday — The big shopping day when stores hope to be in the black (making a profit). Depending on your point of view, it is a good day to shop; (Lots of good sales), or a good day to stay home (avoid the crowds). It is also known to many as Buy Nothing Day.
December is Identity Theft Prevention and Awareness Month — While the shoppers are out in droves, the crooks and thieves are working overtime, too. Guard your purses and wallets!
It is also Universal Human Rights Month.

Tis the Season to be Jolly
Since this is the season to toast the holidays with hot spiked drinks, to ward off the cold and celebrate the holidays, and it is also a time when we tend to overindulge in high calorie goodies, I thought I would give you a low cal (Or low points for those on a certain diet plan) way to warm your “chilly bods.”
Spiked Almond Joy Hot Cocoa
1 ounce coconut rum
1 packet Swiss Miss Diet Hot Cocoa mix
1 drop almond extract
Optional: Fat free Reddi-Whip
In your favorite festive mug prepare cocoa with a cup of hot water. Add the rum and almond extract (remember, only one drop!) Stir and top with generous squirt of Reddi-Whip. Curl up by the fire and enjoy! Makes a single serving. For those point counters, the number is 2.
