Trendy tips from 1956

To add more moisture to your meatloaf, replace cracker crumbs with grated potatoes.

Candles keep their shape better and are less apt to drip if stored in the freezer.

To keep your hands dry and warm when hanging out clothes in the winter, wear nylon gloves.

To press a short seam open as you sew, rub it against a lighted bulb. Saves time in not getting out the ironing board.

Keep buttons on your childrens’ clothes by touching the center of each button with nail polish. It seals the threads so they won't ravel.

When going to bed on a hot summer night, place a hot water bottle filled with very cold water on the feet. It's comforting and helps you fall asleep.
