(Popple River News) - The election is over so we won't be bothered by the political calls any longer! Let us hope and pray for our new leaders of the country to guide and direct them in the right direction to get this country back on its feet.

You may want to make a note on your calendar for the upcoming Monthly Town Board Meeting, which will be the Budget Meeting on Nov. 11, Tuesday, at 6 p.m.

Been raking lots of leaves and pine needles lately, and find I am meeting new people by doing so, especially on weekends. Folks driving by or taking walks, stop to chat when they see me having all this fun. Actually, I am enjoying being outdoors raking, even though most people call it "work." I classify it as good exercise and fresh air, which is helpful to one's well-being, both for the body and mind.

Cabin neighbors visiting recently were the Vercauterens and John on Bluebird Road. Joe Kraemer also has been here.

Peg and Dan Gerlikovski came for a few days with their grandchildren, Jake and Emily, as they had teacher's convention vacation. They had the fun of "trick or treating" in the Northwoods. I was out raking at the neighbors when they came around, so I took a bag of treats over for them, which they thought was neat. We don't usually get trick or treaters anymore, since there aren't kids in the neighborhood any longer, so I really didn't pay any attention to Halloween treats.

Jim and Joanne Tenes of Random Lake, were here for the weekend. Joanne was out walking so I had a nice talk with her. They have a cabin on Bluebird Road and was making the loop.

Al Reinhard was here again hunting, as was Bill Pokorney, who is having a hunting vacation this week. Hope they have a good hunt.

Larry Van Boxel and Lynn have been here for a few days, with Larry hunting every day. He sees bunny rabbits and wolves but no deer. The season isn't over yet, Larry.

The hunters have been getting deer, as the registration station at the General Store in Long Lake has registered nine bucks and 19 doe this past week. The count is getting higher each week as the deer are moving more.

November birthdays are Paul Schultz Nov. 10; Gerry Noe Nov. 12; Kyleen Sticka Nov. 14; Justin Walli Nov. 16; Dan Huben Nov. 19; Greg Huben Nov. 23; and Luke Peterson Nov. 29.

November wedding anniversaries are Dan and Lisa Walli Nov. 2; Chris and Brian Stefanski, 24 years, Nov. 3; and Laura and Craig Burman, 20 years, Nov. 20.

Congratulations to all you fine people and enjoy your day to the fullest.
