(Wabeno News) - Hi everybody.

Talk about a small world, this really struck me as unbelievable. Lonnie and I drove to Appleton on Monday to do some power shopping. We always go to our favorite place to eat, Chili’s, after we are done shopping. Sitting there in a booth across from us is a very attractive young woman who is smiling and looking at me as though she knew me but I did not recognize her. Finally as we got up to leave she spoke or rather shouted “Are you from Wabeno?” “Yes, we are,” I said back, still not recognizing her. “I thought so,” she said. “Maybe I saw you at Pichotta’s restaurant?” “Possibly,” we replied. Then she said, “We are going to be moving up to Wabeno soon as our house is finished on Trump Lake and the other one sells. We just moved the old cottage off and are building our home.” Oh my gosh, I thought out loud. I wrote that article. We had never met before and here she, Lynnette Coenen, is in the booth across from us in Chili’s in Appleton. The right time the right place and in the booth facing me. UNBELIEVABLE! Really how unbelievable is that?

Wabeno will be having their Winterfest on Dec.13 and that is when Santa Claus will be coming to the Wabeno Town Hall. I can hardly wait. I had better get my letter into Santa ahead of time just in case he doesn’t have time to listen to all my wants that day. We have a lot of fun at the Winterfest. Lots of goodies and lots of things for the kids and the family to enjoy. It’s a wonderful time of the year, don’t you think. In fact I am going to go outside and put lights on my deck so I am ready. Ha! Easier said than done. I think I will wait until the weather warms. So much for outside lights on the deck.

Have you ordered your wreaths or garlands or swags from one of the Wabeno High School juniors or seniors yet? I think they are the only classes selling them. Anyway, I ordered some garlands and wreaths from my friend Brad and he promised he would help put them up with the rope lights that I bought at the store that I fought with this past week. He is pretty good about keeping his promises so maybe it won’t be too cold for those stupid lights. They just don’t bend when it’s cold. Oh well we’ll see how it goes this year. Since we put the Christmas tree up every year on the Band Shell sometimes that is enough decorating outside for us.

This month is appreciate your friends, your neighbors, your Pastors, Minister’s or Priests. This is something we should do every day. Say something nice to someone you meet and be sure to say something nice to those you know best and who know you best. Today was my day for receiving nice words. It made my day.

One thing I have learned, we all like to be needed and to be liked. We like to hear nice things said to us about our work or how we look or what we do. We all have some sort of a passion for something. In realizing we have that passion whatever it is we should pass it on. Translate that passion to others and hopefully we will find our town building business. We cannot just be passionate about our own thing we have to be passionate about building our community also. That’s why I love this place there are so many people who love Wabeno here and away the ember is still burning. Well gotta go for now.

Don’t you just love this place? I do!
