Green Bay Packers Coach of the Week
Dan St. Arnauld, head coach of Northern Elite Predators, has been named Green Bay Packers High School Coach of the Week.
The Green Bay Packers recognize one outstanding high school coach as their 'Coach of the Week' winner during the 2008 high school football season. Winners are awarded several items and privileges, including a $1,000 donation to the school's football program from the Green Bay Packers and the NFL, as well as recognition of the award on packers.com.
“This is a nice honor for not only me, but for our kids as well,” St. Arnauld said. “They’re the ones who put in all of the time and effort. It’s been a great success story, and we hope we can keep it going.”
St. Arnauld’s assistant coaching staff includes Brian Bousley, Jim Hoogland, Kris Johnson, Tim Sexton and Randy Wodenka.
Football
The Northern Elite Predators fought a tough battle against the Laona/Wabeno Rebels on Friday, Oct. 17 in Laona. It was a cool misty night, but it was worth braving the weather to watch a great game. There were some tough hits and great plays that led to the 44–12 victory that guarantees at least a tie for a conference championship for the Predators.
Chili Dump
To celebrate the victory for the Northern Elite Predators, Carl and Tracy Rocque held a “Chili Dump” at their cabin in Goodman. The players and their families each brought a pot of chili and it was all dumped into one big pot. As people arrived, the flavor of the chili was ever evolving.
The weather was beautiful! The sun lit up the remaining orange leaves and just a nip in the air made the bon fire very inviting. It was a great afternoon to enjoy a bowl of chili and talk football with all our friends.
This was the first time I had experienced such an event. I was so excited about it I did a little research. Here’s an idea I found from the “Taste of Home” magazine.
Freezer Chili Dump
“I keep a container in my freezer to hold ingredients for my next pot of chili. I dump in leftover taco meat, sloppy joes and cooked meats as well as tomato-based dishes such as spaghetti sauce, marinara sauce, etc. When the container is full, it’s time to make chili. I just add kidney beans, extra tomato sauce and meat if needed, then season it. Although it’s never the same twice, the chili tastes terrific.” —Lynn A., Petoskey, Michigan
