Lake Tomahawk hosts annual fall harvest festival

The Lake Tomahawk Lioness Club will sponsor its 19th annual Fall Harvest Festival on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the sidewalks of downtown Lake Tomahawk.

Vendors will be featuring fresh apples from Bayfield, fresh peanuts, popcorn, cider, jams, fresh produce, dried flowers, wood crafts, arts and crafts, baskets, homemade pies, hand-crafted jewelry, homemade quilts, tree skirts, stuffed animals, birch bark items, lawn ornaments, wreaths, Christmas items, handmade cards and floral arrangements as well as a sign vendor who will make your sign while you watch.

Bake sales, brats, hot dogs, Italian sausages, soda, coffee, popcorn, Watkins and Tastefully Simple products will also be available along the streets.

New this year, the “Muskie Mania” of Arbor Vitae-Woodruff School will also be a part of the festival selling their Muskie Mania “Adopt a Muskie” key chains and pendants next to Captain Hooks in downtown Lake Tomahawk. Proceeds from their booth will go for extra curricular programs that are no longer receiving funding, which includes all athletics: Football, basketball, volleyball, track and field, and gymnastics and other programs including Student Council, Builder’s Club and Yearbook.

How does one spell “musky fishing? Some spell musky as “muskie” and others talk about musky hunting rather than musky fishing. Three of us who just returned from a trip to the state of Minnesota spell it “frustration!” For several years we have been listening to the fish stories told by members of the musky fraternity who have returned from a fishing trip to one of the large Minnesota musky lakes.
