WXPR hosting annual fall auction
WXPR Public Radio 91.7FM will sponsor their Annual Auction Sunday, September 28th at Holiday Acres Resort in Rhinelander. Items from Northwood's merchants and galleries will be on display starting at 3 p.m. At 4 p.m. join them for the silent and live auction and music by Johnny and the Mo-Tones with John Altenburgh. The Mo-Tones are a five piece band from the Wausau area playing Jazz and Blues.
You will be able to bid on the very finest in pottery, paintings, jewelry, photography and quilting, plus a scooter, ski passes, getaway weekends, sailing trips, dog sledding adventures, fishing and kayaking trips and more. Complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres will also be served and there is no admission charge.
The Fall Auction is sponsored by WXPR, an independent community-sponsored public

Lake of the Woods yields no monsters
How does one spell “musky fishing? Some spell musky as “muskie” and others talk about musky hunting rather than musky fishing. Three of us who just returned from a trip to the state of Minnesota spell it “frustration!” For several years we have been listening to the fish stories told by members of the musky fraternity who have returned from a fishing trip to one of the large Minnesota musky lakes.
