News : Life goes on, one day at a time
Marie Peterson - Correspondent
(Crandon News) - Hi everybody. This is my third write up from the nursing home. Life goes on, one day running into the other. Since I am unable to do much for myself, the days are long. I still get visitors, cards and phone calls which break up the day.
I go for therapy on my left leg every day. Mike, the therapist, does a good job. There are several here that have therapy every day as I do. I’ll be glad when that is over. No reflection on Mike!
Some days begin at 5 or 5:30 a.m. When I’m home this is the middle of the night as I usually get up about 8:30 a.m. or so, since there is no reason to begin the day earlier.
My sister, June Houle, continues to do my laundry every day. I don’t know what I would do without her and all her help. Thanks June.
Rhonda Bocek and Chris Zahorik take me to have my hair done by Sue Deer. It helps to boost my morale. We need this.
Since my sister, Anna Letto, started driving again, she visits me more often and I enjoy her visits.
Edith Hubbard came in to see me this Friday morning. and we enjoyed our visit. She spends her summers here.
Please remember in your prayers those on the sick list whether in the hospital, nursing home or at home recuperating from surgery, an illness or an accident (me too). Remember Edith Hubbard, who will have tests done; and all the people who were in the bad car accident on Highway 8/Cty S last week. Sorry, I don’t know your names, but heard some are in serious condition. That seems to be a bad intersection for accidents. Too bad something can’t be done to correct the problem.
June Houle has been under the weather the past few days, probably trying to do too much and helping me. Remember Mary Jane Lyons and Karen Miller and anyone else you know of that is ill and in need of our prayers. Prayers do help.
Judy Bocek, Karen DeBaker and Robert Bocek (all of the Milwaukee area) visited with me before leaving for home on Wednesday.
On Saturday, my friends from the Crandon Women’s Club (Joanne Gobert, Betty Palubicki, Delores Geske and Karen Miller) came to visit me. It was nice to see them. Nja Walker also came to see me. Their visits sure lift my spirits. When you are down and out, a friendly face is what we need to cheer us up.
Jim Bocek (from Milwaukee) was up visiting for the past week. He got called back to work. He visited me daily when he was up here. George Bocek and Jerry Bocek came here with him. He took them sight-seeing and other things. Thanks Jim. Your thoughtfulness sure was appreciated.
My nephew, Freddy Letto, sent me a beautiful statue of St. Theresa. Thanks Fred. I love it.
Rose Gerow and Diane Schultz came to see me. Rose brought me two pairs of shorts, as my slacks won’t fit over the brace on my leg. I have been wearing Mare Houle’s shorts since I came here. Thanks girls.
In closing, once again, please be very careful when driving, whether on the highway, in town or even in the woods as accidents can and do happen everywhere. May our Lord guide and protect us and bring us all safely back home.
