Outdoors : Winners of Big 4 trap shoot announced
The Big 4+ Sportsman's Club held their annual membership picnic at their clubhouse in Long Lake on Saturday, July 19. Over one hundred people came out to enjoy the lovely weather, ample food, numerous raffles, "poultry" shoot and 50-bird Lewis class shoot.
The 50-bird Lewis shoot had 76 entries this year and paid out five classes, with the winner of each class receiving $106.40. Ties were broken by sudden-death shoot-offs. The winners and their scores were John Schultz (Salem) with 50, Jim VanHulle (Oconto) with 47, Mark McHugh (Newald) with 45, Laura Dorzok (Tomah) with 41 and King Huettl (Wabeno) with 38.
There was also a special consolation 5-string shoot-off for shooters under 35 to have a chance at a cash prize. Chris Zernach (Oshkosh) won $76 in that shoot-off. Bill Kramer (Oconto) won $106 for 25-Straight on Trap 1. John Schultz won $106 each for 25-straight on Trap 2, High Gun and Long Run. In the poultry shoot, nearly 50 chickens, steaks, bacon, etc. were won by a variety of shooters.
Winner for the Big 4+'s annual raffle were drawn at the picnic. Nancy Modschiedler (Tipler) won the first prize, a Mossberg 100 ATR rifle. Sue Hartjes (Alvin) won the second prize, a 12-bird pheasant hunt at Heritage Hunt Club at Laona. Rob Roberts (Manitowoc) won the third prize, a picnic table. Chris Reilly (Plymouth) won the fourth prize, two face cords of wood. Reginald Cohart (Brussels) won the fifth prize, $50. Numerous smaller prizes were also awarded. Garry Glime of Pomps Tires donated four Packer game tickets for a special picnic-day drawing. They were won by Tanya VanGroll (Tipler) and Sue Wright (Cecil). Additionally, numerous other items donated by area businesses and individuals were raffled throughout the day.
The Big 4+ wishes to thank all those who participated in this year's picnic and helped to make it a success, with a special thanks to the volunteers who helped run the event and the area businesses that made donations and helped to sell raffle tickets.
