(Wabeno News) - Hi everybody.
Did you all see the parade and hear the Wabeno band? They practice on our street and it is a delightful moment when we hear them. I know I know, I’m a nut for flags and bands and parades in general, I really enjoy them. When they start down our street to practice I am outside on one deck or the other listening and watching and waving. Phil Adamczyk, a previous student now in college, was leading them during their practice. The teacher was there too walking along playing an instrument just like one of the kids. She is great. Yes, I wave at the kids I know and they sometimes wave back. Some are too embarrassed unless they see one of their friend’s wave then they might. Now Phil could care less about what anyone would think, he waves every time.
The town was all “STEAMED-UP” this weekend. It was super to see so many people walking in and out of the Logging Museum and checking out the old school house. What fun it is to see kids climbing on the tank outside of the Legion Hall and getting a drink out of the Lion drinking fountain or having their picture taken in front of it.
The Legion building is where the United Area Rescue Squad’s Loggers Breakfast was held. What a great place to have that breakfast. It gave people a chance park then walk to eat and go to the Steam-up area in the Fire Fighters Grounds and also go to the craft sale in the Park.
Congratulations to all of you for your efforts, what you accomplished was impressive.
The parade on Sunday was great. Leading off with the American Legion dressed in white shirts and dark blue pants carrying the American Flag followed by our hometown, smartly dressed, great sounding band. Then came a few old cars, the old tractors and the ATV Club a few banner trucks with advertising on them and the usual Fire and Rescue Squads rounding out the finish. Great parade!
Don’t you just love this place? I do!
