Outdoors : Butterfly program to be held in Florence

On July 17, the Florence Natural Resource and Wild Rivers Interpretive Center will host an informational program on butterflies and moths. Stephanie Loehr, will lead this program that will cover basic butterfly and moth biology, including identification, life cycles and Monarch migration.

Common northwoods species will be discussed, as well as species of special concern. Collection and preservation of butterflies and moths will be demonstrated. Loehr is a recent graduate of UW-Oshkosh with a BS in Biology. She will be attending The Pennsylvania State University this fall pursuing a Master’s degree in Plant Pathology in the Mushroom Science Program. She is a butterfly and moth enthusiast who loves to share her knowledge with others.

This program will be held on Thursday, July 17 from 7 to 8 p.m. in the lower level conference room at the Florence Natural Resource and Wild Rivers Interpretive Center located on the corner of US Highway 2 and Highway 70 in Florence. The Environmental Stewardship Program Series are put on by the Friends of the Wild Rivers Interpretive Center and are open to the public and free of charge.
