(Nu-Roc News) - The residents of Nu-Roc Community Healthcare have certainly been enjoying the weather. We have a beautiful covered deck and spend a lot of time utilizing it. There is the option of sitting in the shade or the sun. It’s the perfect place to sit and observe all the comings and goings, as well as take in nature. Our grounds resemble a park; are filled with many flowers and a couple of fountains. We are also fortunate enough to be visited by much wildlife. We have many hummingbird feeders and have been enjoying those.

We try to spend as much time outside as we can. There have been cocktail parties and other gatherings on the deck. One of our gentlemen is growing tomato plants, another loves to water the flowers. We have a lady who enjoys going for bicycle rides and we take many walks. During the summer months we are reminded why this area is referred to as “God’s country.”

Our monthly birthday party was hosted by the McCaslin Lioness Club. Thank you so much ladies. In addition to many prizes for bingo, they came with a cartful of great treats that we could choose from. We look forward to your next visit.

Roger Geldon from the Crandon area spent an afternoon entertaining us with his accordion. It’s great to hear all the old polkas and other favorites. We were still humming tunes long after Roger left.

Our cooking club made red, white and blue candy in honor of the fourth of July. It was as much fun to make it as it was to eat. The cooking club always brings back memories and conversations of things “I used to cook.” We learn a lot about each other.

One of the highlights of the month was our dinner club. This month we went to Waubee Lodge in Lakewood. It was a gorgeous day and staff made us feel so welcome. The food was great, but perhaps the best part of the day was enjoying the scenery. We dined outside on the deck, enjoying the view of the lake and the antics of the loons.

A reminder to all area senior citizens that Nu-Roc’s annual picnic will be held Tuesday, August 12. Be sure to keep that date open. We’ll once again have live entertainment, games and a delicious lunch.

We are looking forward to July and Independence Day. We are always ready for new experiences so if you would like to share a talent with us, please call.
