William M. “Bill” Kolbe
William M. “Bill” Kolbe, age 89, of Wabeno, formerly of Milwaukee, went home to be with the Lord on June 18, 2008 at the Langlade Memorial Hospital in Antigo. He was born in the Town of Marathon on March 23, 1919, to the late Emil and Helen (Kaatz) Kolbe.
He worked in the Civil Conservation Corps Camp in Rusk County from April 16, 1936 to May 17, 1937. On March 11, 1941, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served honorably for four years, eight months and eight days during W.W. II. While in the service, Bill served in the 155 Howitzer Battalion as a truck driver, logging 4,000 miles in England and 20,000 miles in France, Germany and Austria. While in Germany, he was a translator at Dachau. He received his honorable discharge on November 18, 1945.
In January 1946, Bill then settled in Milwaukee where he worked as a carpenter. On October 1, 1960, he married Harriet Klumb at Zion Lutheran Church near Allenton. He retired in 1983 and then in 1985, moved to Wabeno.
Bill was a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Wabeno and served on the building committee of the Centennial Hall. He was an avid trout fisherman and hunter.
Bill is survived by his wife, Harriet; two children, Keith (Darlene) Kolbe of Menomonee Falls and Sheila (Tom Ahlgrim) Kolbe of Northfield, Ill.; one grandson, Lance Ahlgrim; four step-grandchildren, Lisa (Terry) Spykstra, John and David Klitzman and Duane Kessler; three step-great-grandchildren, Brittany, Kassi and Gabbie; and one sister, Hermine Fritz of West Bend.
He was preceded in death by his parents and twelve brothers and sisters, Henry, Martin, Albert, Ben, Rudolph, Emily, Minnie, Robert, Elsie, Lena, Christine and Eva.
The visitation was from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wabeno on Saturday, June 21. Officiating is Pastor Craig Korth. Interment in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Wabeno.
Honoring Bill as pallbearers were Duane Kessler, Greg Klumb, Kyle Kreienbrink, Shawn Hintz, Keith B. Kolbe and Thomas Ahlgrim. Veteran honor guard and ceremonies were by the American Legion Sylvan Post 44 of Wabeno. Suminski Funeral Home (715-473-3131) of Wabeno is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Sally Lynn Paradise-Pearsall
Sally Lynn Paradise-Pearsall, age 69, of Mountain, formerly of Manistique, Michigan passed away June 12, 2008 at the AGI Health Care Center in Crandon, following a courageous battle with cancer. Sally was born in Manistique, Michigan on April 13, 1939, the daughter of the late Leonard and Linda (Sjoberg) Walters.
Sally married Dale Paradise and together they had six children. He precedes her in death. On August 11, 2007 at the Living Faith Church of God in Crandon, she married Ronald Pearsall.
Sally enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. They spent many great hours playing cards and games. One of her favorite pastimes was spending time with her husband, picking berries and tending to their garden and chickens.
Sally was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald; daughters, Debra (Richard) Fiorini of Gladstone, Mich., Diane (Brian) Stevenson of Gladstone, Mich. and Donna (Edward) Leiskau of Crandon; sons, Dean Paradise of Traverse City, Mich. and Daniel Paradise of Brunswick, Ga.; sisters, Mary Ann Rhynard of Bay City, Mich., Carol Kocher of Westfield; Pat (Kenneth) Brown of Charles City, Va., Jean (Louie) Stoviak of Milwaukee and Jane (Jerry) Wolfe of Milwaukee; brothers, Jon Walters of Wauwatosa, Steve (Jeannie) Walters of Minot, N.D. and Dale (Celeste) Walters of Merrill; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Linda; husband, Dale; son, Dale, Jr.; and brothers, Richard, Paul, Jim and David Walters.
The family received family and friends on Tuesday, June 17 from 11 a.m. until noon at the Manistique Tribal Community Center 5698 W. U.S. Hwy. 2 Manistique, Mich. Memorial service followed at noon with Pastor Ed Leiskau officiating. Inurnment followed at the Fairview Cemetery in Manistique.

Wayva A. McMillion
Wayva A. McMillion, age 85, of Crandon, passed away at the AGI Health Care Center of Crandon on Saturday, June 21, 2008. She was born January 27, 1923 in Rhinelander, the daughter of the late George and Bertha (Hovde) Counter, as one of seven children.
Wayva was a graduate of Rhinelander High School. She married L.W. McMillion, longtime Forest County Veteran Service Officer on September 27, 1941 and were married 53 years until his death in 1994.
Wayva is survived by two children, daughter, Kathy (Cliff) Flannery of Crandon and son, Barry (Jill) McMillion of North Carolina.
She was very proud of all her grandchildren, Jason, Jeremy, BJ and Nikki and took special delight in great-grandchildren, Conor, Marissa, Jasee, Cody, MiKenzie, Ty, Amber, Jordie and Hunter.
In addition to her husband and parents she is also preceded in death by a sister, Doris and five brothers, George, Jimmy, Frannie, Pete and Ronald.
Visitation was on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Weber-Hill Funeral Home in Crandon and will continue at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 25 from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Funeral mass followed at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Crandon with Father Ralph Gillis officiating. Interment was at Crandon Lakeside Cemetery.
Jack Jay Tabbert
Jack Jay Tabbert, age 55, of Crandon, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, 15, 2008. Jack was born March 9, 1953, the son of Jack and Ruth (Benkelman) Tabbert.
He is survived by his sister, Deborah (Randi) Bates of Crandon and a niece, Amy Bates of Virginia.
Honoring Jack’s wishes, no formal services will be held.
Weber-Hill Funeral Home of Crandon assisted the family with arrangements.
Charles “Red” Chase
Charles “Red” Chase, age 96, passed away at Garden View Inn Assisted Living Facility in Atascaders, Calif. on October 19, 2007.
A private graveside service for family and friends will be held Saturday, June 28 at 11 a.m. at Lakeside Cemetery in Crandon.
The Masonic Lodge will perform the memorial services. Cremation service was arranged in California. No flowers please.
