On March 15, the Laona Willing Workers had their field trip to the Rhinelander Rouman Cinema to see “Horton Hears a Who”. The members also got their choice of a snack to eat during the movie. The members enjoyed the movie and said their favorite things about the movie was all the children Mr. Who had and only one boy and Horton’s class because they were strange.

On April 7, they had their monthly meeting at the Laona Community Building from 6 to 7:30 p.m. They made visors and 3-D stick puppets. The snack was chocolate chip cookies and kool-aid, which were made by Craig Mentz. The members also played freeze-tag outside because the weather was nice and most of the snow was gone at that time. Additionally they had a raffle. The prizes include $5 and a $15 subway gift card. The winners were Craig Mentz and Jasmine Hansen.

On April 19, the members had their annual field trip to Hodag Lanes in Rhinelander from noon to 2:30 p.m. There the members enjoyed three games of bowling, pizza and soda. Many of the families came with their children to bowl as well. There were numerous first time bowlers this year who ended up getting a higher score than the experienced bowlers.

On May 4, there was a Hawaiian party at the Laona Community Building from 3 to 5:30 p.m. The community building was decorated like a tropical paradise with seashells, palm trees and so much more. There the members had pizza, soda and candy. The members dressed in Hawaiian outfits. There were prizes for the best dressed male and female. The winners were Cade Bandt and Lula Mae Kaiser. They also had a DJ for this event. They would like to thank Gregg Tailler for an amazing time. The members each left the party with a raffle prize. Some of the prizes were balloons, pineapples, necklaces, key chains, and finger puppets.

On May 12, the members had their annual awards banquet at the Laona community building. The cooking class, which is the members in grades four and up, arrived after school to help decorate and cook for this event. At the banquet the members received all their awards that they earned from various activities throughout the year. Some of the awards included perfect monthly meeting attendance, pillow making, pizza sales, youth leadership, club president and cooking class. After the banquet, the parent and members stayed for snacks made earlier by the cooking class. This was their last meeting of Laona Willing Workers until August for their end of the summer party and re-enrollment. The Laona Willing Workers thank all the members for a fun filled year and hope to see you at sign up.
