Older adults invited to resource fair to be held in Sugar Camp June 25
Older adults and their families in the Sugar Camp area are welcomed to attend a Senior Resource Fair on Wednesday, June 25 from 3- 7 p.m. at the Sugar Camp Town Hall at 4059 Camp Four Road.
The Sugar Camp Lions Club and the Oneida County Department on Aging are cosponsoring this event.
A wide variety of agencies will be represented with information on services for older adults; including the Oneida County Departments of Aging, Public Health, Emergency Management, Veterans Services, Social Services and other agencies like Ministry Home Care/Hospice and the Alzheimer’s Association.
Between 3 and 6 listen to speakers on important topics relevant to older adults like, Preparing a Power of Attorney for Health Care; Health issues (flu, pneumonia and the new shingles shot); options for staying in your home; How to plan ahead to make good decisions for you and your family; Emergency preparedness, sample an Arthritis Foundation Exercise Class. Learn about older adult benefit issues like Medicare, Prescription Drug Coverage, Social Security and much more.
At 6 p.m. an Oneida County Senior Dining Site Meal will be served (reservations required at least one day in advance).
The menu includes: Bar-B-Q chicken, parslied red potatoes, broccoli salad, roll, strawberry shortcake, milk and coffee. The cost is only $2.75 “suggested donation” for anyone age 60 and older or $6 for people under age 60.
This meal is an example of a standard meal served at all seven Oneida County Senior Dining Sites.
At the event a survey will be distributed and discussion held on any interest and or possibility of the Department on Aging providing future activities and/or a dining site in Sugar Camp.

Outdoor Women’s Group
The next outing of the Outdoor Women's Group will be held on Sunday, June29, at 1 p.m. at the Conserve School, northwest of Land O’Lakes (west on County Road B, north on Black Oak Lake Road). Participants should meet at the school in the LAB parking lot (receive directions at the gatehouse), then we’ll caravan to the put-in point on Big Bateau Lake.
