White Cane Day
Scott Alsteen (right) accepts a donation from Holiday Station employee Krissy Bowman for the Lions White Cane Days. Members of the Rhinelander Lions Club will be holding White Cane Days on Friday and Saturday throughout the city. Proceeds from the event provide vision screening for pre-school and grade school students, eye glasses for qualified children and adults, and white canes, talking watches and other items for legally blind individuals. A portion of the proceeds also go to the Wisconsin Lions Camp in Rosholt where 1,800 children are provided a free camping experience each year. The camp is for children who are blind or visually impaired, deaf and hard of hearing, cognitively disabled or diabetic. There is no charge for the camp.
