The “Chase the Hodag” Kids Run is for kids under 12 and will feature one loop around the courthouse led by the Hodag. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Hodag Run starting location. The adult 5K and 10K start and finish will be at Stevensport Square at the corner of Stevens and Davenport Streets in downtown Rhinelander. The pre-registration fee is $25 and must be received by 7:00 p.m. on June 27. Registration on the day of the event, June 28, is $35. The kids run is free.

You can pick up your pre-registration race packets at the YMCA of the Northwoods on Friday, June 27 from 3 to 7 p.m. Same day registration is between 7 and 8:30 a.m. at Stevensport Square. All registered participants will receive a T-shirt and medal. Awards will also be given to the top overall male and female finishers in the 5K and 10K races.

Proceeds raised from the “Hodag Run For Your Life” will benefit the YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign, which ensures that no one is turned away from the YMCA due to the lack of ability to pay. For more information call the YMCA of the Northwoods at 715-362-9622.

The event is still looking for additional sponsors. Based on last year’s success, organizers are looking for 400 participants in 2008.

" The Y has numerous programs - weekly themed family fun nights from Sept through May. Summer school programs are typically FUN classes - archaeology, music, rocketry. Bi-weekly waterski shows. Library programs. Family Resource Connection has oodles of programs for younger ages - Music Garden, Play Shoppe. Eagle River has a great Children's Museum. Summer beaches. Start geocaching - these are treasure hunt hikes. Summer time has lots of extras! Enjoy! "
