(Popple River News) - It seems this time of year we always get teased with a few nice days and then right back to cooler weather. We received a phone call on Sunday from the Hedborns who used to live in this area, but have relocated to Tennessee in their retirement, and said their nice weather begins in March and ends in December. Doesn't that sound great? Oh, to plant flowers on April 1 and not wear the winter jacket until December. I guess we all have our "druthers".

There didn't seem to be very many cabin people up over the weekend...can hardly blame them with the lousy weather forecast. It’s not really the time we want to be out raking the yard in snow flurries and high winds.

On Tuesday of last week, local folks bid farewell to Willard and Kathy Krull of Newald, who are leaving the area after many years, and moving to an apartment in Green Bay. Well wishers enjoyed a few hours chatting with friends and a delicious buffet of food and beverages at CJ's Bar. Dorothy and Harry Trummel made all the arrangements for the party, a job well done. Guests also brought dishes to pass. The Krulls moved this past Saturday with the help of their kids. We wish them well in their new environment and hope they make all kinds of new friends soon. We will all miss them, as they were always out and about in the area. God's blessings to you, Willard and Kathy.

The Board of Review will be held Tuesday, May 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Town Hall, with the monthly board meeting to follow.

May birthdays are Janal Hoyt on May 1, Theresa Klimek on May 3 and Don Gastrau on May 4.

Gerry and Jan Noe are celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary on May 4.

Congratulations to all you fine people on your special day.
