Hi everybody.

We went to a wonderful event on Friday, April 25 at St. Ambrose in Madonna Hall. The Wabeno Lions Club put on the event honoring our hometown Senior Citizens. The food and the conversation were so great. It was a time for everyone of that age to reminisce while enjoying a wonderful dinner. It seems other towns are doing this kind of thing now too. What a great idea!

Dual Sport will be having their event on May 31 through June 1 camping on the Fire Fighters Grounds Park. Dual Sport is a Wisconsin group of motorcycle riders. These bike riders come in all ages and sizes. Their bikes don’t look like a Harley or a Honda but more like a regular bike. They are licensed to ride on the road as well as off road and up here they do mostly off road through the forest. They have to have the Forest Service approve their route. Their spring ride up here has always been “The Ride for Research”. They are kicking the weekend off on Friday night, May 30 with a 60’s and 70’s cover band called “Beyond Life” at our Band Shell starting about 8 p.m. They are hoping to collect some cash donations from the public at that show. They always donate all they collect during the time they are here and this time will be no different. Their donations will go to the Paul Clarbon Comprehensive Cancer Center to help find a cure for breast and colon cancers. Over the past three years the riders have raised from $9,000 to $12,000 each year, this year they would like to break $15,000. Anyone who would like to donate an item to be raffled off, contact the Chamber President Ron at Flowers From The Heart at (715) 473-5400.

Along with the usual motorcycle dealers that show up for the ride, this year a representative from the Manufacturer of KTM motorcycles of Austria will be present with a demo bike to test ride. KTM makes the orange bikes you may have seen at past events. They are the leaders in off-road and dual sport bikes and our Wabeno group of riders is proud they picked their ride to showcase their products. Another note of interest with this group that come to Wabeno is the AMA (American Motorcycle Association) mentioned the club and the events in Wabeno as one of the two premiere events in the nation, the other being out east. This ride is not an event the public can really attend. It is strictly a gathering of men, women and maybe a few younger adults to experience the freedom of the ride and a chance to give back to our community in many ways and to donate to a good cause, all the while having a great time. None of you are rude or unruly. You show all what true sports people you are. Thanks Dual Sport for choosing our town to come to.

Don’t you just love this place? I do!
