(Wabeno News) - Hi everybody.

Have you been to our local Christian Thrift Store lately? They moved across the street from BJ’s grocery store. If you haven’t taken the opportunity to stop you should. They have everything and very often have sales. Do you believe it, sales. The prices are already reasonable. So many things. They can always use your help if you’re in the market to volunteer, putting up stock or checking items out. Maybe you have some things to donate. Whatever, go in and see for yourself what a nice place it is, and notice the nice people working there also. To call for their hours, their phone number is (715) 473-6509.

If you are local, you probably went to the latest play that the Wabeno/Laona High School Drama Department put on called “Peter Pan.” As usual it was wonderful with the students performing superbly. What a delight, a little bit of our local culture, a little bit of the imagining of the directors, enhancing the original version and the new version. “Peter Pan” was produced with permission from Dramatist Play Service. It was creative and interesting and the sets and the actors were impressive.

In the play program, the directors wrote what I thought was a very profound statement. “The very moment we stop believing in fairies is the moment that we, like James Hook, begin to hear the tick-tock of our inexorable mortality. If we are grim about such things, we see ourselves as the central figure in some Shakespearean tragedy and we play our death scene over and over, lest there not be time at the actual moment of our passing.”

The play was a real treat for me. There are not many places where you can spend an enjoyable evening out for just five dollars.

Don’t you just love this place? I do!
