Community : Searching for signs of daffodils
by Pat Pfeiffer - Correspondent
(Hiles News) - There’s just a whole lot more bare ground showing these days. Gardeners will be out checking for early signs of emerging daffodils, tulips and other soon-to-bloom plants. Spring is always an exciting time of the year for gardeners.
We’ll Miss You, Dottie
Everyone who knew her, and especially the Hiles Ladies pool players, will miss Dorothy Riemer, who passed away last week. Condolences go to her husband, Robert and her family and close friends.
Service Club Postponed
Last week’s Service Club meeting was postponed and will be held this week on Thursday, April 10 at 1 p.m. at the town hall.
Red Hat Plans
Last Thursday evening the Hiles Hattitude met at Pine Lake Pub and heard about plans for this month’s outing. Hostesses for April, Betty Hozan and Dolly Hetzel have arranged for the group to visit the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Crandon. They also told them that the vets will give them a tour of their facility, followed by a brunch. At this time the expected date is Wednesday, April 16. If there is a change the hostesses will contact the members. The ladies will meet at Pine Lake Pub to carpool to Crandon, to leave at 9:30 a.m.

Parting Shots
At our house we have found a way to beat the high cost of groceries — it’s called starvation.
The Recession hasn’t hurt our family — we can still live beyond our means.
Nothing is more responsible for the “good old days” than a poor memory.
Middle age is when you’ve given up all your bad habits and still don’t feel good.
An old-timer is someone who can remember every detail of his life story but can’t remember how many times he’s told it to the same person.
