News : Special programs to be offered at Crandon Public Library

What is national library week? First sponsored in 1958, national library week is a national observance sponsored by American Library Association and libraries across the country each April. It is time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support.
The Crandon Public Library is celebrating National Library Week by offering the following programs:
• 5th Annual Chili Cook-Off with our returning champion, Tim Faledas, will be held April 13 at 1 p.m. Enjoy all the free chili you can take!
• Free chair massages by state certified, massage therapist will be featured all day April 14. Melissa Inger, with her nimble fingers will take away all your stress, so if you’ve ever wondered how it feels to be stress-free, you won't want to miss this one.
• Genealogy Basics: Using Library Resources for Genealogy Research will be held April 15 at 6 p.m. Michelle Gobert will show participants how to find information on their ancestors. This is a free event. More information can be found at the library.
• Quilt, Crocheting and Sewing Show will be featured April 19 through 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The master quilters, crocheters and sewers of Forest County will join together to celebrate and present some of their best work.
• Blast from the Past event will be held all week at the library. For more information on this secret event, you will have to visit the library during National Library Week starting April 13.
Everyday libraries, just like ours, transform their communities. They transform their communities by joining people of all backgrounds together in one place, the library. You can join the circle of knowledge at your library, just like some of these organizations have done at our library: knitting club which meets every Tuesday morning, yoga class which meets every, Boy Scouts meet on Mondays, karate on Thursday afternoon, Nicolet teaches GED classes every Tuesday and Thursday and a number of organizations such as Forest County Association of Lakes, Ladies' Auxiliary, American Legion, Historical Society, DAVA, hold their annual/monthly meeting at our library.
The Crandon Public Library recognizes the responsibility it has when serving the communities of Forest County and we look forward to improving and expanding our collections, services and programs to make our library the focal point of our great community.
Today’s libraries are modern community centers where everyone is invited. All that’s missing is you, so come and join us at the Crandon Public Library. Bring your curiosity, imagination and creativity, and join the circle of knowledge at Crandon Public Library.
