(Crandon News) - Hi everybody.

We have been getting a lot of beautiful sunshine weather even though we did have about five inches of snow on Thursday. I was plowed out Thursday evening and now the snow seems to be melting quite a bit and the highways are all free of snow and ice. Maybe it will be good start of spring weather and a beautiful Easter Sunday.

I hope that all of the Irish and everyone enjoyed a Happy St. Patrick’s Day on Monday. It seems that Easter came so early and with the cold weather it is hard to believe that Sunday is Easter. The day that our Lord Jesus arose from the dead after being crucified on Good Friday, three days earlier. With the holiday we have to remember why we celebrate Easter. I hope that all of you have a blessed day with your family and friends. There is nothing like being with family on the holidays. A good time to get together and show your love for each other. It will be a sad time for many of us in the loss of a family member who has gone to their eternal rest. But we have to the person and the good memorable times we had together and know that s/he is with our Lord. This is not easy and does not take away the pain but we do have to go on with life. May God bless everyone on this day and always and ease their pain.

The funeral of our sister’s husband, John Gretzinger, Jr., was held on March 10 at the Weber-Hill Funeral Home. A list of relatives who attended the funeral will be listed in next week’s edition. It is always good to see everyone but it is sad that it has to be an unhappy event that brings us together, but it seems that that is the case in most instances.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, some of us gathered at the home of June Houle for lunch and dinner and did a lot of visiting.

In closing, once again, please be very careful when driving, whether on the highways, in town or even in the woods as accidents can and do happen everywhere. May our Lord bless and protect us and bring us all safely back home.

Looking for signs of spring is one of the favorite activities of many country folk this week. Although the official first day of spring is on March 20 this year, the more important beginnings of spring are not seen until the last week in March - a time when the first redwing blackbirds, horned larks, juncos and killdeers return.
