(Wabeno News) - Hi everybody.

Oh my gosh. Everyone I have talked with lately has something to say about the cold weather and the snow. It seems their vocabulary is very limited, so much so that I cannot print what they say. Hmmm! It snows in Wisconsin. Did we forget this event having not had a lot of snow for some years now? It's the “duh” cycle. “Duh” we have winter and “duh” when it is winter it is cold and “duh” when it's winter it snows a lot. It's winter in Wisconsin and the people who don't like it should try Florida where it is so hot you never go outside for very long. Of course you don't have to plow or shovel but you have to spray for bugs and water a lot and try to get rid of the mold which grows on everything. You can only spend so much time at the beach and watch your skin, too much tanning is not good for you. Well it is time to get off that soapbox I guess.

Lonnie's cousin Cedric has been making remarks about my articles in this paper saying I didn't write a good one or maybe that one was OK. He thinks that I should check with him each week to see it is good enough. Ha! Ha! Forget that Cedric. What I need is news, about Wabeno; not something you are doing. You don‘t even live in Wabeno anymore.

You should see the ice fishing houses out on Wheeler Flowage or Townsend Flowage, whatever it is called now. Lots of ice fisherman on Silver Lake in Laona too.

Larry “Workabee” is at it again. I saw him changing the bulbs at the Band Shell the other day with the help of Dennis Kopecky. The new bulbs are supposed to never burn out. Hooray! If they work it will be worth it. What a guy. He is everywhere. Thanks Larry.

Hey, did you know you could still order bricks for the Flagpole Project? We just received a huge order the other day for about nine bricks. I can't wait until spring to see what changes it will make in that area. What a nice thing that is to have people remember others with an engraved brick. This past year our park was really looking good. Next year it will look even better.

Don't you just love this place? I do!

OPINION ALL OPINIONS >
Football team appreciates support of the community
Parents, grandparents, uncles, families and friends, local businesses and Hodag football supporters: Due to your generosity our locker room pledge drive was a great success. Our goal was to raise $8,000 to $10,000 to purchase 40 lockers for our varsity locker room. We crushed this goal and raised enough money to purchase 100 lockers and the ability to have every male athlete in a new locker. These new lockers will allow us to secure our valuable equipment. In addition and I believe more important is that it shows our kids we care and will make the locker room less stressful. This facility has needed this improvement for three decades and you made it happen. Personally, I can not thank you enough for giving us the opportunity make this improvement for our students.
