(Carter News) - Hi everyone. Below is the article I mentioned last week and am so very proud to print it.

Last Friday night the Wabeno Boys Junior Varsity had something to be proud of. They played against Florence at home on parents night. The game was very close all the way through. They went into overtime, not once, not twice, but three times! The excitement and stress was overwhelming so hopefully my memory holds up for the details. The boys played their hearts out. Going into the end of the third overtime, one of the key players, Ryan Gust had fouled out, but he had points on the boards and played a strong game. Wabeno has the ball, the score is 46-48. We're behind by two. Cole Nygard gets fouled and sinks one of two freethrows. Wabeno boys get the ball back, 20 seconds left on the clock. Bryce Hoeffs is working to get an open shot but is covered by two guys. Adam Bennet is under the hoop and also very strongly covered, so he passes the ball out. The ball goes to Zack Ashbeck, five seconds on the clock. The crowd is going insane. Everyone is yelling for him to shoot. Three seconds on the clock, Zack shoots and he scores! Wabeno beats Florence in triple overtime, 49 -48. These young men play very well as a team, and the sportsmanship showed by the community at these games is fantastic. Keep up the good work Wabeno. We are all so very proud of you.

Bev Kaker is in the hospital in Wausau. Hope you're better soon Bev. We wish you all the best. Wendy Tucker had surgery on her arm at St. Mary's Hospital in Rhinelander on Tuesday, February 5. She is recuperating at home and is doing quite well. I have not heard how Jeff Merschdorf is doing. We also wish you a speedy recovery Jeff. You had a bad one.

Well, the weather has been snowy and cold so not much to do but socialize in the northwoods. The Moravec kids are snowmobiling every weekend and doing great. Kiara has been winning in two different categories, am stock and am kitty cat. Brandon took first in about four of the races and placed in several more. Nascar next? Their new baby on the way has a lot of peer pressure I guess.

I just got out and heard Wendy is on the sick list. Thanks for telling us Dave! Can't get out on the ice to do a lot of ice fishing but there's a lot of fisheree's this week. Anyone have any good fishing recipes to share? Send or call Clara Koskella 473-3508 or foxygramma@ez-net.com. Something to pass our snow days with.

Have a great week and until then have a happy and healthy one.
