(Hiles News) - Greetings from the Deep Freeze! We had our January Thaw early, and now our February Freeze is a bit early. Does this foretell an early spring? Hope everybody is keeping warm, while we wait for that to happen. The seed catalogs are arriving already; can spring be far behind?

Remember back in the 60's and 70's when snowmobiling was newly popular? We used whatever we could put on to try to keep warm. Today the clothing has improved greatly, for snowmobiling and any other winter activity. Snowmobilers have been out enjoying the trails which are in good condition due to the snow. Right through the cold weather! Thanks to modern clothing improvements. They keep us warm and look great, too.

Pool Season Underway

The Hiles Ladies Pool League had lunch at Pine Lake Pub and proceeded to play their first games last Tuesday. The teams seem to be fairly evenly matched, so it should be a good season, as all past seasons have been. The best part of it is that the ladies all have fun, and, believe me, they do.

Crafters Going to Work

On these cold winter days, crafters and artists are getting ready for the Hiles Craft Show and Bazaar. This will be taking place on June 21, 2008. If you haven't reserved a space yet, contact Margaret McCarthy at 649-3227 or Fran Pfeiffer at 649-3178. There is no charge for the spaces! I know there are a lot of talented people in Hiles and the surrounding areas. Be sure to be there, as a vendor or as a craft show patron. There will be food and lots of nice things for sale.

Goals

January, the start of a new Calendar year, seems a good time to set goals. By the way, how are you all doing on your resolutions? I'm hanging in there. Don't give up. Remember you can always get a restart. Here's some quotes to inspire you to keep going.

Robert H. Schuller: "Goals are not only absolutely necessary to motivate us. They are essential to really keep us alive."

Frank Lloyd Wright: "I know the price of success: dedication, hard work and an unremitting devotion to the things you want to see happen."

Vince Lombardi: "Leaders aren't born, they are made. And they are made just like anything else, through hard work. And that's the price we'll have to pay to achieve that goal, or any goal."

Helen Keller: "I long to accomplish a great and noble tasks, but it is my chief duty to accomplish humble tasks as though they were great and noble. The world is moved along, not only by the mighty shoves of its heroes, but also by the aggregate of the tiny pushes of each honest worker."
