Forest County Health Department - Free Childhood Immunization Clinics are Wednesday, January 23 at the County Health Department in the Crandon Courthouse from 1:30 to 4 p.m. and Monday, January 28 at the Laona Town Hall from 3:30 to 4 p.m. (call 478-3371 for an appointment). Check out http://dhfs.wi.gov/lead to obtain information about toys and other products that have been recalled due to lead paint. Call the Health Department at 478-3371 to inquire about blood sugar testing, blood pressures, prenatal care coordination, radon test kits, lead screening, water testing, fluoride program, Lifeline, Women's Cancer Control & Health Screening Programs, infant and toddler car seat safety education and installation, WIC (Women, Infants & Children) Healthy Foods Program and much more.

The 26th annual Crandon Lions Club Fish-O-Ree and Winterfest will be held at the Crandon Community Building on Saturday, January 19. The day will be full of all day family fun with food, refreshments, paddle wheels and games starting at 2 p.m. and karaoke beginning at 4 p.m. Fish registration hours are from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with prizes for first, second and third for heaviest and longest northern, walleye and panfish. Raffle tickets are being sold for $2 each or 6 for $10 at the Forest Republican office. The raffle drawing will take place at 6 p.m. You need not be present to win.

A Crandon MMG Community Blood Drive will be held Thursday, January 17 from 9 a.m. to noon at St. Paul Lutheran Church at 501 N. Park Avenue in Crandon. Cholesterol screening is now available. Call Ann at (715) 478-3318 or go to www.save3lives.org to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome.

The Pickerel Pearson Winter Fisheree, held by the Pickerel-Pearson Business Association, will be held Saturday, January 26. The fishing starts at sun up and lasts until 3 p.m. All fish must be registered by 3 p.m. at Final Lap on Pickerel Lake Road. Raffles, games, food and beverages will be served in the tent by Final Lap from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. All fish prizes and raffle ticket prizes will be given out at 4 p.m.

Tombstone Pickerel Sno-Club Annual Chili Ride In will be held Saturday, January 19 from noon to 6 p.m. at the Tombstone Pickerel Clubhouse on Cty “DD” in Pickerel. Drawings at the Ride In will be at 5 p.m. Tickets are $1 donation each or 6 for $5. You need not be present to win the $300 first prize, $150 second prize, $50 third prize or $25 fourth through eighth prizes. The January monthly meeting is at 10 a.m.

Headwaters Christian Youth meets every Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the VFW Hall in Crandon. All youth from Junior through Senior High are invited to attend.

Victims Benefit Fund donations can be made at the Crandon International Off-Road Raceway or Laona State Bank.

Narcotics Anonymous meetings are every Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Indian Springs Lodge in Carter. Call Kari at (715) 850-1862.
