Ministry Health Care is pleased to announce Dorothy Skye, MD, has accepted a new role with Ministry Medical Group - Northern Region (MMG-NR) as Physician Team Coordinator for Women's Health Services.

Dr. Skye's new role will be to coordinate women's health services and develop MMG-NR Obstetric/Gynecology (OB/GYN) Hospitalist Services program. She will lead a team of women's health specialists comprised of five other physicians and two nurse practitioners including Bruce Abrams, MD., Jodelle Bentley, MD, Vincent Moore, MD, Judy Pagano, MD (part-time limited practice schedule), Dean Pollnow, MD, Nancy Bauer, CNP., and Barbara Gartmann, CNP. Dr. Skye's practice will focus on hospital care only; she will not have a clinic practice.

“Ministry has always been committed to women's health, and in 2008 we are taking services to new levels. I am delighted to be a part of it,” said Dr. Skye. “Our six OB/GYN physicians and two nurse practitioners will provide readily available appointments for patients and a sustainable night call schedule for obstetricians. Dr. Pollnow and Dr. Moore's expertise in new surgical techniques is a big plus. The OB/GYN hospitalist service will help our patients' access clinic and hospital more efficiently.”

Dr. Skye has served our Northwoods communities as a member of Ministry Medical Group since 1984. She graduated from the University of New Mexico, School of Medicine and completed her OB/GYN residency at San Diego Naval Hospital. She is a Board Certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist and a Fellow in the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (organizations that certify the quality of OB/GYN specialists training and promote continuing medical education). She is also a member of the State Medical Society of Wisconsin and the Oneida-Vilas Medical Society.

“We are thrilled Dr. Skye has agreed to lead our Women's Health Services in the northern region and thank her for her continued commitment to meeting the needs of women and their families in the Northwoods,” said Kathy Richards-Bess, Associate Administrator-Specialty Care Services.

For some businesses, Lincoln Street is not the place to be. Culligan Water Conditioning is moving from Lincoln Street to the old Oneida Liquor warehouse on Phillip Street and building a new addition. Owned since 1965 by the Schoppe family, Culligan is looking to move in early 2008. “We're running out of space,” said Kas Schoppe. “We'd like to get off Lincoln Street, it's gotten too busy. We feel we can better serve our customers in the new location. And the move will make it easier on our employees.” Birch Builders of Rhinelander is the contracter for the new addition.
