(Nu-Roc News) - During this time of Thanksgiving, the residents and staff at Nu-Roc Community Healthcare would like to extend our thanks to some very special people. Each month, there are several groups, churches and individuals who volunteer their time and talent to enrich our lives. They probably don't expect any extra recognition, but we would like to express our gratitude.

The family of our own Verla Lafferty entertains us with karaoke one Saturday a month. They come from Laona, Newald and Rhinelander. Verla is very proud of them and we are very entertained by them.

Twice a month, students from Northland Baptist Bible College spend an afternoon singing Christian songs. These young people are enthusiastic, helpful and sing beautifully.

Suzanne Bell from Townsend comes once a week and plays piano for us during brunch. Often, she has the vocal accompaniment of several residents.

Scott Wycherly, also from Townsend, spends time leading a sing-a-long for us. His old songs always rekindle fond memories.

Pastor Korth from Trinity Lutheran Church in Wabeno conducts a bible study class. His knowledge and passion bring the bible stories to life and often generates lively conversation.

Dennis Larson, his daughters Tammy Ehlinger and Brenda St. Peter, and various other helpers from the Bible Church in Wabeno are eagerly anticipated every month.

Deacon Harold from St. Ambrose Church in Wabeno, and Fathers' Dave and Matt from St. Mary of the Lakes in Lakewood, each say a Catholic Service. Deacon Harold is also willing to come out on special holidays for us.

Reverend Scheunemann and his volunteers from Tabor Lutheran Church in Mountain also come once a month. They have beautiful voices and are much appreciated.

Pastors Dennis and Wendy Mannering from Forest Larger Parish in Wabeno spend an afternoon with us. They, too, bring along a group to sing and visit.

Pastor Kerstner and his assistants from Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Crandon also do a service every month, and we look forward to them.

So, again, from the staff and residents at Nu-Roc Community Healthcare, thank you and Happy Thanksgiving!

On Sunday, November 11, America celebrated Veteran's Day. The nine veterans in residence at Nu-Roc Community Healthcare were honored as well.

The Wabeno American Legion Auxiliary, Sylvan Post #44 made a monetary donation to each veteran's personal account. This can be spent any way they wish.

Catherine Klesewski from Armstrong Creek also thought of these men. She sent each of them a beautiful floral arrangement with a red, white and blue theme.

Our veterans were proud to be remembered. We thank them for their service.
