The Demmer Memorial Library's "Matinee Mondays," in honor of Veteran's Day, will show classic war films during the “Matinee Mondays” program each Monday in Nov. at 2 p.m. in the lower level of the library. The movies were selected in honor of Veteran's Day and of the men and women who serve in the military.

The Friends of the Library purchased the licensing agreement to allow the library to show the films for free. Delicious movie theatre popcorn is provided by White Deer Wine & Spirits at no charge.

The film schedule is as follows: Nov. 5 - “To Hell and Back.” This true story is based on the autobiography of Audie Murphy whose incredible exploits in the European Theater made him the most-decorated American soldier of World War II. This film features superb battle sequences.

Nov. 12 - “A Bridge too Far” is the story of a massive operation mounted by the Allies in World War II with the goal of ending the war by 1944. Joseph E. Levine has assembled one of the most impressive casts of international stars who have ever appeared in the same film. It is brutally realistic, containing some of the best aerial special effects footage ever seen in a war film.

Nov. 19 - “Midway” with Charlton Heston starring as Captain Matt Garth, the central fictional character whose story is interwoven with those of actual World War II officers and enlisted men, and Henry Fonda portraying Adm. Chester W. Nimitz. Seven guest stars portray naval officers. Edward Albert co-stars in the role of Charlton Heston's son, Ensign Tom Garth.

There will be no “Monday Matinee” film on Nov. 26. The films have a NR or PG rating and are open to everyone. Call the library at 715-546-3391, stop in at 6961 W. School St., Three Lakes, or visit online at www.demmerlibrary.org for further information.
