LDF men charged with drug crimes

Two Lac du Flambeau men have been charged in federal court with drug crimes.

According to the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, Brian D. Cross, 55, is charged with three counts of distributing cocaine and one count of possessing cocaine with intent to distribute. The indictment alleges that he distributed cocaine on November 24, 2006, January 9, 2007 and January 17, 2007, and that he possessed cocaine with intent to distribute on January 26, 2007.

Byron G. Peterson, 29, is charged with one count of distributing crack cocaine on January 10, 2007 and count of possessing crack cocaine with intent to distribute on January 26, 2007.

The two cases are not related.

If convicted, each man faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison on each count. The charges against Cross and Peterson are the result of investigations conducted by the Lac du Flambeau Tribal Police Department, the North Central Drug Enforcement Group Task Force and the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation-Narcotics Bureau.
