Focus group for business and industry offered

Patrick Dugan, MSE, LPC, CADCIII from Ministry Behavioral Health, Gina Scheuer, OTR from Ministry Rehabilitation Services and Raj Jain, MD, MPH from Occupational Medicine and joined forces and are facilitating a monthly focus group meeting for local businesses who are interested in the health and safety of their employees.

This month's focus group will meet August 8 from noon to 1 p.m. at Saint Mary's Hospital conference rooms 1 & 2 located in the lower level of the hospital with guest speaker Andrew Wood, PT, MS, Manager of Health Promotion and Human Performance for General Mills, Inc.

Wood will be speaking about “Health, Wellness and Ergonomic Innovations at General Mills.”

In his current position, Wood has designed, developed and manages several fitness facilities, coordinates the health promotion activities, advises on ergonomics and treats injured employees in the corporate medical department. He has written several articles on the development and assessment of health promotion programs in industry.

The focus group will continue to meet each second Wednesday monthly from noon to 1 p.m. for a light lunch, networking and information sharing.

The topic for each meeting is issue driven and educational.

Participants to date include representatives from Nicolet Staffing, Daigle Brothers, Rhinelander School District, Harley Davidson, City of Rhinelander, YMCA of the Northwoods, Musson Brothers, Northland Orthopedic, Oneida County, Headwaters, Home Depot, Foster & Smith, T.A. Solberg, Packaging Corporation, Alaris Group, Frito Lay, Rhinelander Daily News and Ministry Health Care.

Participation is open to anyone in business who is interested in the health and safety of his or her workforce.

Topics include but are not limited to worker's compensation issues, transitional duty programs, benefits of stretching at work, health and well-being topics, Occupational Medicine, etc.

Through these focus group meetings, the Ministry Health Services for Business Team looks forward to strengthening their partnership with local business and the opportunity for monthly information sharing among local businesses in our community.
