Editor, the Daily News:

The July 10th headline in the Rhinelander Daily News titled "Controversial courses still mandatory at RHS" was misleading.

The article would have been more aptly titled "Religious zealots dispute graduation requirements" or "Religious extremists reject mandatory courses."

" It's simply amazing how quick those on the left attack anyone who defends their constitutional right to have their religious values protected. Christianity has become one of their favorite targets...and here I thought "Tolerance" was their guiding virtue... "

" The argument and support for the family because that believe in something, and are "standing up to it" could also be applied to other religious extremists that do this country great harm. Parent can home school kids if they are that fanatical about their religion. But we must keep religion out of our public schools, unless it is for an educational history lesson. Is this family going to make the same lame argument if the former student goes to college? If so, I guess the student won't be receiving a degree from a state university or any other reputable college. Kudos to the school baord for not bowing to fanatical Christians, Muslims or any other organized religion extremists. I wish the family the best of luck. Just keep the fanatics and their supporters out of our public institutions. "

" I'm sorry, but that's a little extreme. I know the White family and they are nothing but kind, decent people. They have contributed a lot to this community and I hope they will continue to do so. To state that they are religious zealots is to show how close-minded you are. They believe in something-I respect them for standing up to it instead of bowing down in front of the world. "
