Foster & Smith executive speaks to Northwoods I & E Club
Gordon Magee, Internet Marketing and Analysis Manager at Drs. Foster & Smith Inc., addressed the five-county Northwoods Inventors' and Entrepreneurs' Club at their April meeting held on Wednesday, April 25, at the Oneida County University of Wisconsin-Extension office. Drs. Foster & Smith is the largest catalog and online seller of pet supplies in North America.
Magee oversees and analyzes all aspects of the company's e-commerce marketing, including pay-per-click marketing, natural search, shopping portals, e-mail campaigns, affiliate marketing and lead generation. Additional responsibilities include overseeing TV advertising, public relations, space ads, alternate media, developing the marketing budget and company strategy.
Magee authored a section on pay-per-click marketing for a university level course developed and offered by the Web Analytics Association and the University of British Columbia. He was a journeyman ironworker for 11 years, erecting and fabricating structural steel.
Dan Kuzlik, Assistant Professor in Community and Economic Development for the Oneida County University of Wisconsin-Extension remarked, “the Northwoods Inventors' and Entrepreneurs' Club could not have scheduled a more appropriate speaker, nor a more appropriate company. Starting in 1985 with four animal clinics and a 16-page catalog, today Drs. Foster and Smith is not only the largest employer in Oneida County, but distributes more than 50 million catalogs per year. They are a major entrepreneurial success story.”
The Northwoods Inventors' and Entrepreneurs' Club is open to any resident of Forest, Iron, Lincoln, Oneida and Vilas counties who has an interest in business or entrepreneurship. Their May meeting is scheduled for May 16, at 6:30 p.m. at the UWEX offices located in the lower level of the Rhinelander/Oneida County Airport. Turkey hunting - challenge greets success
Ask most anyone who has hunted turkeys in Wisconsin about their hunting experiences and you will get a variety of answers.
