Bruce Heurich, manager of Manufacturing and Test Operations (MTO) of Ball Aerospace, was awarded a 2006 Excellence Award in the functional management category.

Heurich, a former Rhinelander resident, was born at Saint Mary's Hospital in Rhinelander, attended West School, James Williams Junior High School and graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1977. He graduated from University of Wisconsin-Stout with a degree in Industrial Technology. He also attended classes at University of Colorado in Astrophysics.

Heurich was nominated for his managing process improvement funds in high risk areas under his responsibility, which were tracked with earned value milestones. His process improvement efforts are designed to reduce the cost to customers and to reduce the volatility of the actual amounts charged to programs.

He took remediative steps throughout 2006 to realign administrative work, cross-train technicians for other areas when workloads slowed and worked with Finance and Compliance to reassess how to bill liquid nitrogen charges and lease fees.

Andrea Chavez, director of MTO, said, “Bruce is a tremendous asset and has the potential to become a driving force in Ball Aerospace. In this regard, he is highly qualified for the 2006 Excellence Award.”
