Conserve School announces winter sports awards recipients

Recently, Conserve School held its Winter Sports Banquet and honored student athletes who participated in Boys and Girls Basketball and Nordic skiing. Following is a list of those awards.

Girls Varsity Basketball: The MVP award was shared by Viki Wohlers, a senior from Germany, and Jenny Van Doorn, a junior from Germany, both of whom made All-Conference, First Team. Most Improved Player honors went to Vanessa Peters, a sophomore from Saxon, and Coaches' Award went to Sadie Pietsch, a senior from Wautoma.

Nordic Ski Team: The MVP award went to Tina Lanuoette, a junior from Appleton, on the girls' side and David Brueckmann, a junior from Germany on the boys' side. Most Improved honors went to Hannah Mueller, a freshman from Kimberly, and Ju Ho Lee, a sophomore from Korea. Tricia Klos, a senior from Brillion, received the coaches' award.

Boys Varsity Basketball: Three students were named CO-MVP's; Aleksander Sandic, a sophomore from Germany, Larus Kazmi, a senior from Iceland, and Manuel Schuell, a senior from Germany. Most Improved honors went to Victor Sporyskev, a senior from Russia. Larus and Aleksander also made All-Conference Honorable Mention.

Boys Junior Varsity Basketball: The coaches' award was shared by two students, senior Jordan Gaeta from Lawrenceville, Ga., and senior Peter Kim from Korea. Most Improved honors went to Tae Hwan Kim, a junior from Korea.

Monthly art workshop on March 21
The Lakeland Art League's monthly workshop will be held on March 21 at the Woodruff Town Hall from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Kicking off the new season will be Gladys Sandstrom demonstrating scratchboard techniques. Space is limited so if you're interested, attend the March 14 general meeting to sign up or call the provided number to register. The cost of the workshop is $10 for members and $15 for non-members.
