The 2007 Northwoods Children's Museum's 9th Annual Benefit Auction will showcase a 2007 Bayliner 185 Runabout at the August event. Bids on this new boat, trailer and boat cover, can begin July 16 by placing an online bid through the Museum's Secure Auction Web site. The 18' 2" Bayliner ski boat has a 190HP MerCruiser engine and cover and seats eight.

"This new boat is the result of Boat Sport Marina working with Bayliner on a deal on behalf of the Museum," explained Gary Fawcett, Museum Board President. "John and Mary Mors, owners of Boat Sport Marina worked with us to deliver this incredible auction item to the Museum for a significant cost savings."

Boat Sport Marina, located three miles west of Eagle River, is one of the founders of the children's museum in Eagle River. "Boat Sport is committed to supporting our community and families," comments Mary Mors. "Boat Sport (Where the fun begins) Marina, knows how much fun families can have whether on the water, on the snowmobile trail or playing at the museum."

"We are delighted by the Mors' initiative, and how they reduced the boat cost through negotiations with Bayliner, their own personal donation, as well as recruiting others to help with donations toward the cost of the boat package," said Fawcett. "We have been working on moving the benefit auction to the next level, both as a fund-raiser and as an event. Boat Sport has helped move us towards that goal."

The annual auction will be held Tuesday, August 7, at Eagle Waters Resort. The event has grown each year since the first auction in 1998 and now generates $15,000 to $20,000 to benefit the Museum. These funds cover approximately 15 percent of the museum's annual operating income.

The auction offers silent and live bidding on hundreds of donated items. The majority of these items are from local sources and range from paintings to prints, ceramics to quilts, sporting goods to collectibles, to gift certificates for businesses and services and much more.

The Bayliner boat will be one of several big ticket live auction items offered on August 7. The boat will be on display at area events and at the Northwoods Children's Museum when the temperatures permit.

The Northwoods Children's Museum's mission of making learning fun and encouraging families to engage in learning together is made possible by events such as these and the incredible community support the Museum receives from caring community members who donate their time, services, in-kind donations and financial support.

The auction committee meets once per month to plan the event. Individuals interested in joining the planning, or in donating auction items should contact the Museum.

For more information on the 9th Annual Benefit Auction, call the Northwoods Children's Museum at (715) 479-4623, or stop in at 346 West Division Street, Eagle River.
