Jack Lippert

John J. (Jack) Lippert, age 85 of Mayville died of natural causes at his home Thursday, December 21, 2006. He was born May 27, 1921 in Wausau George and Belle (Braun) Lippert. He married Gladys Meilahn on June 25, 1955 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mayville.

During his early childhood, Jack moved to Milwaukee with his family. Jack was a 1940 graduate of Milwaukee's West Division High School. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corp. (U.S. Air Force), serving from 1972 until 1945 during W.W.II he received the distinguished flying cross for completion of 31 missions over Germany and Poland as a B-17 pilot. After the war, he lived in Beloit for 10 years. He pursued a career in the insurance industry. He was still active in the William Penn Association, serving as branch manager for Wisconsin until the time of his death. He was active in aviation, flying corporate and private airplanes into his 60's. Jack was a member of Milwaukee hangar OB's (Quiet Birdmen). He enjoyed fishing and trapshooting. For the past 30 years, he sponsored and was a member of his own trapshooting team. He was a 61 year member of the American Legion post 69 of Mayville, most recently acting as an honorary color guard. Jack served as an alderman for the city of Mayville from 1990 to 1992 and was Mayor of Mayville from 1992 until 1996. At the time of this death, he was an active board member of Graceland Cemetery.

Jack is survived by one daughter, Johanna Lippert of Scottsdale, Ariz. and one son, Timothy (Susan) of Crandon and Kenosha. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, wife in 2000, and one sister Marjorie.

Visitation was held Saturday, December 30, 2006 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mayville from 12 noon to 2 p.m. with service to follow. The Reverand James Mallmann will officiate. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery in Mayville with military gravesite rites conducted by American Legion Post 69 of Mayville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to William Penn Scholarship Fund in care of M&I Bank of Mayville.

Cottrill Funeral Home 920-387-2440 is in charge of arrangements.

Irene Byle

Irene L. Byle, age 98, of Pelican Lake, passed away December 31, 2006 at the Eastview Medical and Rehab Center in Antigo. Irene was born July 8, 1908 in Mishicot,to the late Alfred and Emma (Foreman) Mott.

Irene married Vernon Byle on February 17, 1934; he preceded her in death on January 26, 2000. She will be sadly missed by her family.

Irene is survived by one son, Marshall (Mary) Byle, Elcho; two grandchildren, Amanda and Kimberly and a sister-in-law, Edna Georgenson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Emma, husband Vernon, son, James; daughter, Beverly; four sisters, and one brother. No formal services will be held. Weber-Hill Funeral Home, Crandon, assisted the family with the arrangements.

Elnora Dorothy (Wickham) Jackson/Kott

Elnora Dorothy (Wickham) Jackson/Kott, age 94, died peacefully December 11, 2006 at the home of her daughter Sally Stancil in Fremont, N.C. She was born on October 11, 1912, in Crandon. She spent most of her life there except for a period when she lived in Illinois and studied Cosmetology. For the past 12 years she has lived in the Fremont area.

She was preceded in death in 1959 by her husband Chester Jackson, the father of her children. She is survived by a son, Robert (Shirley) Jackson of Crandon; a daughter, Geri (Harry) Jacobson of Cave Creek, Ariz.; a second daughter Sally (Jeff) Stancil of Fremont, N.C.; and a second son Ronald (Lucille) of Elkhorn.

Her extended family consisted of eleven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and her sister Elaine (Wickham) Kemp of Wisconsin Rapids. There are also five stepchildren, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren from her second marriage to Royal Kott, who preceded her in death prior to her moving to Fremont.

A memorial service was held in Wilson, N.C. on December 23, 2006. There will be a memorial service in Crandon at a later date.

David Charles Stewart

David Charles Stewart, age 64, previously of Crandon, died in Farmington, N.M. on December 25, 2006.

He is survived by his wife Gloria Stewart of Farmington, N.M.; daughter Starr (Tom) Heyden of Aztec, N.M.; son David (Michelle) Stewart of Green Bay; and three grandsons of Aztec, N.M.

Mouzon Strong

Mouzon Strong, age 84, formerly of Crandon, died on Saturday, December 23, 2006 at Lakeview Manor in Weyauwega after a short illness.

Mouzon was born January 11, 1922 in Pangborn (White County), Ark., to the late Jewell (Gray) Strong and John Strong. He moved to Crandon with his family in the late 1930s and attended Crandon High School before moving to Weyauwega where he resided for the past 63 years.

Mouzon enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and board games. In his later years he enjoyed reminiscing about life on the farm and working in the Christmas tree plantation. He had many great memories of Crandon and life on The Wolf River.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Strong and Rufus Strong, and sister-in-law Eva (Sipple) Strong.

Surviving are sisters-in-law, Belva (Dumpprope) Strong of Crandon and Audrey (Simmerman, Zimmer) Strong of Argonne. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Linda (Bob) Myott, Cypress, Calif., Ronald (Cheryl Lewis-Strong) Strong, Dennis (Sandi) Strong, Sugar Camp, Patricia Zimmer, Argonne, Diane Strong, Argonne, Paula (Dean) Young, Custer, S.D., John (Tina) Strong, Argonne, Karla (Larry) Sommer, Wausau, Vicky (Robert) Caliri, Odessa, Fla., Tina (Tim) Johnson, Antigo, and John Strong, Crandon.

Visitation was held at the Weber-Hill Funeral Home on Thursday, December 28, 2006 with interment at Lakeside Cemetery.

Ina Mae Webb (Calhoun)

Ina Mae Webb (Calhoun), age 81, of Bloomington, formerly of Laona, died on December 27, 2006. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adrian Webb and children, Michael Webb, Mary Webber and Patrick Webb. Survivors include grandchildren, Glenn Mills, Sean Mills, Christopher Carlson, Adrianne Gerber and Kayla Kelley and siblings, Judith Schmidt and John Calhoun. Funeral services will be held in Laona, at a later date.

Florence (Gloyek) Zingler

Florence (Gloyek) Zingler, age 90 of Wabeno, died December 26, 2006 at the NuRoc Community Healthcare Center, Blackwell.

Florence was born March 20, 1916 in Milwaukee to the late Albert and Blanche Gloyek. On October 6, 1956, she married the late Herman Zingler in Waukegan, Ill.

During her life, she enjoyed gardening and working for the Milwaukee Braves/Brewers. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Florence is survived by her sons, Harold Cieszynksi of Racine, Gerald Cieszynksi of West Allis, Ronald Zingler of Milwaukee; daughters, Carol Raymond of Greenfield and Christine Zingler of Milwaukee; seven grand children and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held at Suminski Funeral Home on December 29, 2006 from 10 to 11 a.m. with Father Dave Schmidt officiating. Suminski Funeral and Memorial Service, Wabeno, assisted the family with arrangements.

Ted Roberts

Theodore A. “Ted” Roberts, age 81, of Three Lakes died on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at the Friendly Village Nursing Home in Rhinelander. He was born August 20, 1925 in New London and was the son of Theodore and Cora (Moeller) Roberts.

He was baptized and attended school at most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London and graduated from New London High School. On December 2, 1943 he married Edna Spiegel of Tigerton and in January of 1944, Ted joined the U.S. Army and served his country as a sergeant in the European Theater. After returning from the war in 1946 he returned to Hiles where he made his home until 1970 at which time he moved to Lake Julia in Three Lakes. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Three Lakes.

Mr. Roberts is survived by Edna, his beloved wife of 63 years; daughter, Colette (Karl) Guth of Hiles; two sons, David of Hiles and Gregory (Chris) of Eugene Ore.; grandchildren, Jennifer (Patrick) Nickel of Three Lakes, Rebecca (Mark) Van Duser of Larson, Allison (Andy) Space of Crandon, Polly (Brad) Parker of Tallahassee, Fla., Corey and Cassidy Roberts of Eugene, Ore.; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Spencer Nickel, Sylvia and Theodore Van Duser, Hannah and Nolan Space, and Riley Parker; sisters, MaryEllen (William) Dixon of Quinnesec, Mich., and Jeanne (Alfred) Swanson of Pembine; brothers, Marvin of Cheyenne, Wyo., Donald (Nancy) of Wautoma and Gordon (Judy) of Rhinelander; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cora and Theodore; stepfather, Ralph Roberts; sister, Bonnie Giessel; brothers, Charles and Dale.

A mass of Christian burial was held Saturday, December 30, 2006 at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Three Lakes. Father William Horath will preside. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Hiles Cemetery.

The Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home, 715-479-4777, of Eagle River is in charge of the arrangements.
