A potentially bad situation turned into a good experience for a Minnesota family Tuesday.

Jim McGowan was driving west on Highway 8 about five miles out of Rhinelander when several large chunks of icey snow flew off the top of a passing truck.

McGowan reported that a large piece crashed squarely into his vehicle's windshield, smashing it.

“Fortunately the safety glass held, but it was entirely honeycombed filling the car with bits of glass,” said McGowan

After being directed to Auto Glass Specialists McGowan connected with employees Dianne Kongslien and Joe Kofler who were able find a replacement windshield in Wausau and replace the glass.

“We were on our way home in a little over three hours,” added McGowan. “These days customer service has too often become a lost art and caring about other people's problems is passe. A few folk in Rhinelander proved those notions wrong.”

Understanding the election results (11.15.2006)
The first thing to be noted about Tuesday's election returns is that they were not, in any serious sense, a Democratic victory. They were, however, a thoroughgoing Republican defeat. The Democrats had practically nothing to do with it. They had no policy proposals to speak of - least of all on Iraq, which they insisted was the central issue. But in a two-party system, if the voters decide to throw the rascals out, their only option is to throw the other rascals in. All the Democrats had to do was be there. READ MORE >
